Jacklyn was born in December 1946 in Mexico to Lawrence Preston Gise and Mattie Louise Strait. In 1964, she went to meet Ted Theodore Jorgensen, who was 19 years old at the time. She became a mother when she was just 17. She also has a degree from the reputed College of St. Elizabeth.

She was still in high school when she gave birth to Jeff Bezos in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nonetheless, the diligent woman has also maintained her education while also looking after her child. She also took evening classes to complete her education.

Bezos went to divorce Ted in 1965 after a short failed marriage when their kid, Jeff Bezos, was only 17 months old. After divorcing him, she married Miguel Mike Bezos, who is a Cuban immigrant, in 1968.

She was Almost Evicted From School for Being a Mother

As she was just 17 and a junior in high school when she gave birth to Jeff, her school explained that she couldn’t come back to school.

However, the young Jacklyn was a persistent woman, set to complete her schooling. So, she would keep on pushing back. Eventually, the school compromised and let her attend classes under few conditions.

Even after high school, she wanted to keep learning. So, she joined a night school. However, as a young mother, it was tough for her to attend school.

Thus, she solely chose a night school that would let her take the baby future billionaire with her to class.

Jeff’s Parents Separated When He was Just 17 Months Old

Jacklyn and Ted Jorgensen tied their wedding knot in 1963. She gave birth to Jeff Bezos on 12 January 1964 in New Mexico, where she lived.

Their marriage was doomed as Ted had a bad habit of excessive drinking and being out of the home for a long time. In addition, he was a very bad father and the worst husband. The former duo divorced when Jeff was only 17 months old.

She later met and married her new boyfriend, Mike Bezos, and moved on with her new husband and son. Mike then decided to legally adopt Jeff and raise them responsibly with his spouse, Jacklyn Bezos, in Houston, Texas.

Jeff Bezos’s beloved mother, Jacklyn, works as the charity president and co-founder of the Bezos Family Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organization and serves several clients worldwide.

In addition, she has also worked on the boards for the Robin Hood Foundation, which is the American museum of natural history, and the board of the Thrive by Five. She has also been involved in the industry for Consumer Discretionary Services.
