Charles is also known as Dr. Charles F. Stanley. He is a senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and the founder of In Touch Ministries, a Christian Evangelical non-profit organization.

Pastor Charles is an evangelical and dispensationalist theologian who served as president of the Southern Baptist Convention for two terms from 1984 to 1986. He’s also a best-selling novelist on the New York Times bestseller list. In 1988, the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) inducted him into their own Hall of Fame.

The senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Charles Frazier Stanley, is 88 years old as of September 25, 2020. In 1932, he was born in Dry Fork, Virginia, in the United States.

He Became Christain at 12

The Pastor grew up on the outskirts of Danville, Virginia, where he was born to Rebecca and Charley Stanley. Unfortunately, Dr. Charles’ father died just nine months after his birth. Senior pastor Charles became a Christian at the age of 12 and began his Christian ministry at the age of 14.

He enrolled in The University of Richmond for his undergraduate studies before enrolling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas to pursue his Master of Divinity. Pastor Charles acquired his Master of Theology and Doctor of Theology degrees from Luther Rice Seminary in Florida.

Charles was Once a Married Man

Stanley doesn’t have a wife. But, from 1958 until their divorce in 2000, he was together with the late Anna Johnson Stanley. After they had separated in the spring of 1992, Anna first filed for divorce from the senior pastor on June 22, 1993.

They then sat down and started on a legal separation while trying to reconcile. It didn’t seem to work, as Anna filed for divorce again on March 20, 1995. Divorce papers were filed again on February 16, 2000, and on May 11, 2000, a judge signed the final divorce decree.

Charles Has Two Kids

Charles and Anna Stanley had a son Andy Stanley and a daughter Becky Stanley during their 40-year marriage. Andy Stanley, like his father, is a pastor at the North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Becky isn’t well-known; all we know about her is that she’s married and has children. Her father has also acknowledged her in a few sermons.

His Show, The Chapel Hour Began Broadcasting in 1978

Charles, who became a staff member of the Atlanta First Baptist Church in 1969 after being born again at the age of 12, continued to live his Christian faith. Dr. Charles was appointed senior pastor of the church in 1971. In 1972, he created the half-hour religious program “The Chapel Hour” on television. The Christian Broadcasting Network picked up the show in 1978 and began showing it.
